Here is a glimps into Mrs. Capener's class. Below she explaines what her class has been up to the past few weeks......

" In History we have been learning about Justinian and Theodora in the Byzantine Empire. Theodora was a circus performer before she met Justinian. She became a Christian because she wanted a different kind of life. She was a famous actress and helped her husband remain emperor by convincing him not to run away but to stay and fight.

They built the beautiful Haggia Sophia; a place that had golden mosaic walls, that was later destroyed by riots. So we built our own mosaics using bits of tile, beans, and glass beads. A mosaic is a picture made by arranging little colored pieces, called tesserae, into a pattern.

The Code of Justinian was a set of laws that helped him rule his house. Things like anyone could go to the beach. He used helpers to write his laws.

2 Weeks ago we made our own laws and wrote our own scripture using feather quills. These are hanging on our bullliten board outside our room."
